But wake up \u2013 the second stage of the Grand Tour is pure adrenaline in La Raya. Leave behind the <a href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/eventos-y-festivales\/boda-regia\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>A Royal Wedding<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and the church at Rocamador to give us a boost for the next 105 km.<\/p><p>We set off from Valencia towards the Data Natural Monument. A rocky outcrop of giants where the first settlers \u2013 masters of megalithic architecture \u2013 erected dolmens such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/early-settlers\/dolmen-mellizo\/\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Twin<\/span><\/strong><\/a> or the Data folks, to remind us that they\u2019ve had a proper \u2018home office\u2019 for millennia. And if you\u2019re after a bit of mysticism, pop round to the<a href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/early-settlers\/abrigo-de-puerto-roque\/\"><strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Prehistoric rock art trails in Puerto Roque<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. The short path leading up to it is well worth the effort. Once you get there, the views and the cave paintings will leave you speechless.<\/p><p>We follow the road towards Herreruela and Salorino along one of those scenic routes where you simply have to wind down the window and stick your elbow out. To your right, the Sierra de San Pedro watches over you; it is <strong>expert-level birding area<\/strong> where birds of prey look down on you with an air of superiority. Here, nature reigns supreme: endless pastures that look like an Unsplash wallpaper, but in 8K.<\/p><p>We arrived at <a href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/cultural-tourism\/conjunto-historico-de-brozas\/\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Brozas<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, a historic town with an imposing grandeur and an urban Special Protection Area (SPA) where lesser kestrels have better penthouses than we do. Take a look at its churches and palaces adorned with coats of arms \u2013 they\u2019re sure to amaze you. It\u2019s no wonder it\u2019s been a listed historic site since 2016.<\/p><p>We continue on our way. We cross the spectacular pastures of Mata de Alc\u00e1ntara \u2014 a seemingly endless sea of holm oaks \u2014 until, bang!, the ultimate historic site comes into view: <a href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/cultural-tourism\/sitio-historico-de-alcantara\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Alc\u00e1ntara<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. His <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/grandtourprovinciacaceres.com\/en\/what-to-do\/thematic\/cultural-tourism\/puente-romano-de-alcantara\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Roman bridge<\/strong><\/span><\/a> It is the king of the frontier, a colossus from the 2nd century that has watched the waters of the Tagus flow by for two thousand years without so much as a hair out of place. And don\u2019t miss the  nearby\u00a0<strong>the Cabezo menhir<\/strong>, a twelve-tonne titan that has got back on its feet just for your selfie.<\/p><p>And to top it all off?
