ca\u00f1\u00f3n rocoso excavado por el r\u00edo Almonte en la dura cuarcita es <strong>uno de los geositios con m\u00e1s gancho del geoparque Villuercas Ibores Jara<\/strong>, tanto por su formaci\u00f3n geol\u00f3gica \u2014con su pliegue en rodilla de libro\u2014 como por la fauna y flora que atesora.<\/p><p>Desde el puente del Almonte parte una senda que lleva hasta la misma base de la portilla, por la margen izquierda del r\u00edo y siempre que el caudal de este lo permita, que es sencillamente espectacular. All\u00ed, en el farall\u00f3n principal, conocido como la <strong>pe\u00f1a del Rayo<\/strong>, se pueden observar <strong>buitre leonado, \u00e1guila perdicera, alimoche, cig\u00fce\u00f1a negra, halc\u00f3n peregrino, b\u00faho real<\/strong> y otras peque\u00f1as aves como <strong>golondrina d\u00e1urica, vencejo real o vencejo cafre.<\/strong> Un aut\u00e9ntico fil\u00f3n para los pajareros m\u00e1s
