The Mellizo dolmen stands majestically next to the hamlet of La Aceña de la Borrega as a fascinating window into prehistory, inviting you to discover the secrets of the communities that inhabited Tajo Internacional millennia ago.
This runner’s grave, the centrepiece of the imposing dolmen complex at Valencia de Alcántara, It is striking for its excellent state of preservation, defying the passage of time with its enormous blocks of granite.
It is situated next to the spectacular natural monument, Berrocal de la Data, a vast granite outcrop sculpted by erosion over millions of years, from which the materials used to build these gigantic funerary monuments were probably quarried. And just a short distance away, you can also visit the the Data and Cajirón dolmens, thus completing a magical route that links the wildest natural landscapes with humanity’s earliest architectural creations; every step amongst cork oaks, chestnut trees and colossal rocks will bring you a little closer to the mysteries of our ancestors.
A perfect plan for the whole family.
