Getting around

There’s no need to rush here: just hop in the car (a motorbike or campervan will do just as well), let yourself be carried along, take your time and go wherever you like. And remember, getting lost is all part of the plan on the UNESCO Territories Grand Tour.

Here, you take your time and enjoy yourself. The UNESCO Territories Grand Tour is something you can enjoy at your own pace: car, road and blanket, because in Extremadura we know that long distances are easier to bear when the scenery is worth it. You can follow the five routes or the nine getaways that we suggest, or veer off course just a little – just a little, or however much takes your fancy – and stop off at villages, roads and hidden corners that seem to have been put there just so you can get out of the car.

Amongst heritage, nature and fine dining, Every stop has its own story. And if you get lost, don’t worry: getting lost here isn’t a mistake – it’s the proper way to discover the Grand Tour.

 

By car or motorbike

It’s simple: you start the car and hit the road. The Gran Tour is situated in the centre of the province of Cáceres, and its road network makes it easy to explore by car or motorbike. Following the five routes, we’ll travel along the Tajo-Tejo Internacional, with its scenic roads and border villages, all the way to Monfragüe, where the national park awaits us. And from there, we’ll head for the Villuercas-Ibores-Jara Geopark, through mountains, valleys and, of course, Guadalupe.

 

Public transport

The rail network Renfe connects the Grand Tour with the communities of Andalusia, Castile-La
Mancha and Madrid. 

By road, the bus connects the main towns in the province and provides access to the UNESCO sites. That said, it’s worth checking the timetables carefully.
