The International Tagus Scenic Route
Short but intense, this scenic route takes you through the most remote part of the UNESCO Territories, the final frontier within the Tajo Internacional Biosphere Reserve.

This little one 6-kilometre route takes you from the town of Cedillo, the westernmost town in the province of Cáceres, right up to border with Portugal, with a winding route towards that headland which forms the the confluence of the River Sever and the River Tagus.

The route is lovely and is dotted with viewing points on either side – that is, on either side of the river – offering some of the most iconic views of the Tajo Internacional Biosphere Reserve and Natural Park, such as those of the Cedillo’s experiential viewpoint.

As well as its undeniable scenic attractions, the road provides access to some very interesting sites in this part of the reserve, such as the Joaninha dolmen, the Balcón del Tajo jetty —the tourist boat that cruises along the river— or the Tajo Nature Trail, which ends its journey at this point on the border.
