In Carbajo, when the cold air begins to be felt around All Saints’ Day, El Magusto was first organised back in 2004, a Celtic and folk music festival that’s more energetic than a ball pit at peak times. Here, the sounds of the pasture blend with bagpipes and violins in a display of authenticity that’s going to leave you in shock. A grassroots gathering that celebrates biodiversity, folklore and cross-border culture in the Tajo Internacional Biosphere Reserve.

You’ll have dance workshops to lose one’s sense of shame, talks that put your head back in its proper place and that a massive bowl of chickpeas which is, basically, when you burst into tears of joy.

It’s small, it’s intense and so authentic… There’s life beyond Auto-Tune and reggaeton, and it’s served for free, in the open air and with the scent of a village – in Carbajo.
