In the Brozas Reservoir, designated as a special protection area for birds (ZEPA) and known locally as Charca de Patos, you’ll find this fascinating astronomical viewing point; the perfect spot to bring your telescope and enjoy the night sky over the Tajo Internacional Biosphere Reserve.

And hey, whilst we’re on the subject, The hours leading up to dusk are perfect for observing the many protected bird species in this wetland, Make the most of it. The astronomical observatory itself is a good spot, but right opposite it, on the other side of the reservoir, there is a birdwatching spot in an area with more marshland vegetation that you’re going to love: Common coot, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Cattle Egret, Pochard and Tufted Duck.... and concentrations of cranes during the winter.

Stars and birds – what a brilliant plan!
