Monfragüe is not just a sanctuary for Mediterranean flora and fauna; it is one of the few sanctuaries in Europe where darkness is a protected resource.

Thanks to its low levels of light pollution, the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve it holds the Starlight tourist destination seal, establishing this region as a global leader in space tourism.

The centre of this activity is the Torrejón el Rubio Astronomical Observatory. Fitted with a four-metre dome and state-of-the-art telescopes, it allows visitors to observe everything from Saturn’s rings to deep-sky nebulae with astonishing clarity.

But stargazing doesn’t end there; you can also visit the celestial viewpoints of the Allotments in Serrejón or the Monfragüe Guesthouse from Torrejón El Rubio.
