It’s just a stone’s throw (easy joke, sorry) from the A5 motorway, exit 210, right in the heart of the Monfragüe Biosphere Reserve. It’s the sort of place you visit and leave knowing, at the very least, that the landscape you see around you isn’t just there for no reason.

It features interactive models, fossils and display panels that explain the topography of the biosphere reserve, how folding and erosion created parallel valleys and quartzite ridges millions of years ago. Furthermore, it is the starting point of the Campana de Albalat geological trail (46 km by car), with stops at karst limestone formations, river terraces and archaeological sites such as Makhada Al-Balat.

In summary: It’s informative, it’s free (a key point) and it gives you topics of conversation so you can show off as an intellectual at your next get-together with friends.
