The Silo
If you’ve made it as far as Alía, don’t miss the chance to go inside a silo. Not many people can say they’ve done that. Nearby is the Joaquín Araújo Nature Interpretation Centre, named after the great naturalist who lived in the area.

If you’ve ever seen one of those towering structures by the side of the road and thought they were just forgotten concrete giants, The Alía silo will take you by surprise. For the better, of course – just have a look at the reviews on Google Maps and you’ll see what I mean; by the way, there’s been a lot of talk about the guide – let us know why.

In some villages, these spaces are used to store the carnival floats, to house the local village band, or to accommodate clueless couples. Not here, This is where the cultural and industrial heritage of the Villuercas is preserved. Olé!

They have made the most of their colossal structure to explain to you – without overwhelming you with dense data – the The origins and customs of Alía (and its districts) or how the advent of mechanisation It changed the countryside and industry forever.

A place where you realise that, sometimes, to look to the future, you have to climb to the top of a silo.
