The Castañar Cave It’s simply spectacular, honestly, it’s like stepping into a different, magical world hidden underground that takes your breath away.

It has been designated a natural monument for its rarity and beauty, with its countless varieties of speleothems such as stalactites, flowstones, eccentric flowers and moon-milk… But it is an extremely fragile environment, which is why Visits are strictly limited in terms of duration and the number of people allowed, so you have to put your name on a list to request them and then wait.

In any case, it’s worth a go, although it has to be said that it’s not for everyone – at least not if you find enclosed, dark spaces uncomfortable.

Alternatively, the best option is to visit their interpretation centre, which features replicas of the most characteristic speleothems, a magnificent virtual tour of the cave featuring a 3D projection and information panels of all the geological features of the cave and its surroundings. It’s not quite the same as going down, but it’s very similar.
