The geosites are the stops that best tell the story of the Villuercas Ibores Jara Geopark: the rocks, folds, valleys and caves show us how this landscape was shaped over millions of years. The geopark features more than 50 geosites spread across more than 2,500 square kilometres.

The The Villuerca Cliff is the highest point in the park and the views of the Appalachian terrain They’re brutal, but they’re also spectacular – the the Viejas-Tornero syncline, the The Almonte Passes, the Peña Amarilla Strait, Carbonero Peak or the Castañar Cave, which is exceptionally rare due to its numerous aragonite crystals, which resemble countless white flowers.

The lovely thing is that it’s not just about geology: the landscape, the villages and rural life are also part of the story, and that is why the geopark continues to gain prominence as a destination for nature and sustainable tourism.
